Cheers for the Weekend

Amigos y amigas!! Oh how I have miss you!! GOOD-NESS. This week has been pure craziness. And it's only Tuesday! If this is any indication of how the semester is going to be, then I am in for a wake-up call. At least it will go by fast, though, right? No worries. One way or another I will get through this! I'll try my best to remember everything that's happened from the last time I wrote. I may get a little distracted, though...
So, on my last post I told you about all of my lovely classes. Well, the classes have definitely started in full swing this week! But before I talk about that, I'll cover this weekend's festivities.

FRIDAY
I could not have been happier when Friday came around! I only have two classes on Friday, and I knew I could make it through them with promises of a fun weekend on my mind. Communication studies and Spanish went by like a breeze, and I was walking back to my dorm at 11:00! Thrilled to be done for the day, I relaxed and took care of some housekeeping around the room while waiting for my roomie to get back. We had big plans to go to Moe's for a farewell dinner to my bestie before she went back to college. And maybe we also went here because they give out free Gigi's cupcakes on Fridays. Just maybe.

My roomie and I loaded up in the car and headed back to our hometown for some Mexican grubbin'. The boyfran tagged along, too. I was so excited to see my bestie, and I was beyond thrilled that I got to say goodbye one last time before she went back to King college. And I might have been just a little excited about the cupcakes. But, being the adult that I am I only took seven cupcakes, I calmly selected a delicious looking cupcake.

OHMIWORD
Please just take a gander at that amount of icing. Craziness!!! This was pretty much the size of a baby elephant, but it was completely scrumptious. It was chocolate with cream cheese icing <<<my absolute fav. I wanted to stick my face in it. But instead, I collected my barbaric urges and used a fork to eat it. I could only eat about half the cake, but I finished off most of the icing. I'm a champ, I know.

Contrary to popular belief, I did not just eat icing for lunch. I guess I should show you a picture of some real food...
Mexican at its finest
Please notice my beautiful array of salsas. It is actually quite impressive how much salsa I can eat in one sitting. I dominated those puppies before they even knew what was coming. And, if you were wondering, that burrito container says "Moo" on it. As in, "Moo Moo Mr. Cow." As in, the kid's meal that I order every single time I go to Moe's. Frugality, friends. It's all about the frugality.

After lunch, we said our goodbyes and headed back to campus. We made a quick stop for the roomie to buy a Patagonia, and then continued to our humble abode (AKA dorm). I managed to do a little homework in between spurts of watching Tabitha's Salon Takeover. After more dilly-dallying, I went to dinner with some of my Delta Gamma sisters and then got ready for a fun night out on the town. Frat hopping was in order!

It was a very fun night full of shenanigans and funsies. I did manage to get to bed at a decent hour, though, because I had to be up bright and early for the basketball game Saturday!

SATURDAY
Saturday began with a basketball game at noon. This was earlier than I would have liked it to be, but basketball games are free for students so I decided to take advantage of this! I went with one of my sorority sisters, Justine. We went to find our seats, only to find we were in the very top section. I almost feel seasick looking down onto the court. But it was still a good game. Sadly, we didn't win. But hey, you can't always get what you want, right? :)

After the game we were ravenous so we met up with two more of our sisters and headed to Cookout for some high class food. Cookout is pretty much the cheapest food around campus, so naturally it was packed with poor, hungry college kids. Waiting in line was torture, but we finally filled our bellies and enjoyed some good conversation.

Then it was time for Justine and I to see Beauty and the Beast! In 3D!!! I was beyond freaking out to see this movie. I absolutely loooove Disney movies, and Beauty and the Beast is by far my favorite. And this movie was definitely up to my standards! Ahhh-mazing is all I can say :) Go see it. Now.

The rest of Saturday consisted of a hard workout run with the boyfran, and watching the Miss America pagent with the roomie and friends. Good relaxing night to go with a busy busy day.

SUNDAY
On Sunday, the roomie and I went to a new church we had been wanting to try. We went with some of her sorority sisters to the 10:45 service. This church reminded me a lot of my church at home, and I really enjoyed it! The music, sermon, and atmosphere were all fantastic. I can't wait to go back next week!

After church, we went to O' Charley's for lunch. I wasn't too hungry yet, so I just chatted with everyone. We headed back to campus, and I packed up my laundry to bring home to do. Yes, I do still take full advantage of being able to go home to wash my clothes. It costs too much at school! Anyway, I attempted to do homework while my laundry was washing, but I didn't get much accomplished, unfortunately. So I hurriedly finished my laundry, grabbed a quick lunch, and headed to campus. The boyfran and I had another marvelous workout run. I am lovin' these workouts, though! They're just tough enough to whip me back into shape without wearing me out!

Once the puke feeling went away, we stretched and cooled down, we headed to the caferteria for some dinner. Raisin Bran Crunch makes a fantastic post-workout food, if anyone was wondering. Then it was time to get ready for our friend's birthday party! I got all dolled up and we were on our merry way to our friend Sarah's apartment. I had a blast just hanging out with everyone at the party. Lots of laughs were had :) By 1 am, I was wayyyyy exhausted and the boyfran and I headed back to campus to get some sleep for the next day.

MONDAY
Luckily we didn't have school Monday because it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The boyfran and I wanted to do something fun on our day off, so earlier in the week we decided to visit Gatlinburg for the day! I slept in for a little bit before dragging my lazy butt out of bed for a morning run. The boyfran and I chatted the whole way, making the hour run go by very fast. After showering and pampering, I was more than ready for lunch before setting off on our endeavor.

A few wrong turns later, we were in Gatlinburg!! We saw an interesting looking little gem shop/antique store on the side of the road. Being the spontaneous dynamic duo that we are, we decided to make a pit stop and check the place out.

It matched my shirt!

There were so many rocks at this place!! And the rocks were in every color I could imagine. I'm not really into rocks, but I actually thought this place was pretty cool once we started walking around. This was what had caught my eye in the first place, though:

Dino?
Random? Yes. Attention grabbing? Definitely. You know I had to check this place out. We ended up talking to the man who owned the store for about an hour about anything rock-related. This man was so informative!! He seriously had an endless amount of info to share with us. We walked out of the store knowing a whole lot more about geology and with some rock paraphernalia in our shopping bag.

After our adventure at the gem shop, we knew we had to take a look around the antique store, too. This store was three whole floors of just antqiues!

So Much Stuff!!!!
It had everything, from old Coke bottles to collector Barbie dolls. I could have walked around this place for hours, but the boyfran dragged me out I decided we should probably make our way to Gatlinburg.

By the time we actually got there and parked, it was a little past 4 pm, so we didn't have too much time to walk around. But we still made the most of our trip! We made a trip to the little ghetto wooden Gatlinburg Mountain Mall and tried some hot sauce (from which I got major heartburn) and even visited the candy store (but restrained ourselves from buying any goodies).

Mostly, I just enjoyed walking around with the boyfran and enjoying the crisp mountain air. And we even got to look at the winter lights!

We are such models. It was a fantastically perfect day of just hanging out. Unfortunately, my undone homework awaited me when we arrived back to campus, but I got everything done and even had a productive first day back at class today! I also got lots of exciting things at my sorority meeting tonight yayayayayay!! But we'll save that post for another day :) Adios amigos!
